This site is built to be usable

I build for anyone who wants to read my work. Screen-reader users, keyboard-only users, people on slow mobile connections. Here's what that looks like on alexricher.com.

Standard

The site targets WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance and is regularly tested against axe-core. Every public page (home, blog, CV, games, now) is scanned in both light and dark themes across EN and FR. A Lighthouse accessibility audit runs in CI on every build.

Keyboard navigation

Every interactive element is reachable by Tab. A Skip to main content link is the first focusable stop. Command palette opens with ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows/Linux). Blog post headings have permalink anchors copyable on click. Arrow keys navigate the command palette and gallery lightboxes.

Visual

Light and dark themes both target WCAG AA contrast (4.5:1 for body, 3:1 for large text). Focus rings are always visible on interactive elements. The site respects prefers-reduced-motion: all decorative animations disable when requested. Images use responsive srcset so mobile devices get smaller, faster variants.

Known limitations

The ambient audio player is visual only, no captions or transcript (the tracks are instrumental). A handful of decorative animations on the hero can be intense, set prefers-reduced-motion in your OS to disable them. The CMS (not public-facing) is not formally a11y audited.

Report an issue

If anything on this site blocks you, email me directly. I read every message and aim to respond within 24–48h. Include the page URL, your browser + OS, and what you were trying to do.
